Correlation Analysis of Serum PTH, 25(OH)D Levels with Urinary Red Blood Cells and Urinary Calcium in Children with Idiopathic Hypercalcemia |

Abstract 【Objective】To investigate the correlation of serum parathyroid hormone (PTH), 25-hydroxyvitamin D[25(OH)D], calcium and phosphorus levels with urinary red blood cells and urinary calcium at 24 h in children with idiopathic hypercalcemia.【Methods】A total of 26 children with idiopathic hypercalcemia admitted to our hospital from January 2019 to December 2023 (the observation group) were selected, and 33 healthy volunteers who underwent physical examination in our hospital were selected as the control group. The serum levels of PTH, 25(OH)D, phosphorus and calcium were compared between the two groups, and the correlation between urinary red blood cells and 24 h urinary calcium levels and serum PTH, 25(OH)D, phosphorus and calcium levels in the observation group was analyzed.【Results】The levels of serum PTH and 25(OH)D in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in serum phosphorus and calcium levels between the two groups (P>0.05). Pearson correlation analysis showed that PTH level in the observation group was positively correlated with urinary red blood cells and 24 h urinary calcium (r=0.877, 0.717, P<0.01). Serum 25(OH)D levels were positively correlated with urinary red blood cells and 24 h urinary calcium (r=0.837, 0.746, P<0.01). There was no correlation between serum phosphorus and urinary red blood cells and urinary calcium at 24 h (P>0.05). There was no correlation between serum calcium and urinary red blood cells and urinary calcium at 24 h (P>0.05).【Conclusion】The serum levels of PTH and 25(OH)D were significantly increased in children with idiopathic hypercalcemia, which was positively correlated with urinary calcium and hematuria.
