Abstract  【Objective】 To explore the clinical efficacy of intramuscular injection of sodium dimercaptosulfonate and oral administration of dimercaptosuccinic acid capsules in the treatment of patients with chronic arsenic poisoning. 【Methods】 A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 206 patients with chronic arsenic poisoning admitted to our hospital from January 2020 to December 2022. According to different treatment methods, they were divided into a control group (treated with dimercaptosuccinic acid) and an observation group (treated with intramuscular injection of sodium dimercaptosulfonate), with 103 patients in each group. The two groups of patients were treated continuously for 3 courses of treatment. We compared the clinical efficacy and arsenic concentration in hair and urine between two groups of patients before and after treatment.【Results】After treatment, the arsenic concentration in the hair and urine of the two groups of patients was significantly lower than before treatment, and the arsenic concentration in the hair and urine of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group, with statistical significance (P<0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group was 68.93% (71/103), significantly higher than the control group's 41.75% (43/103), and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Early diagnosis and elimination of arsenic in the body are important measures in the treatment of chronic arsenic poisoning; Compared with dimercaptosuccinic acid, sodium dimercaptopropylsulfonate can significantly improve the overall effective rate of patients with chronic arsenic poisoning.
