| Efficacy of Radiation Therapy Combined with Acupoint Application in the Treatment of Middle and Late Stage Esophageal Cancer |

Abstract 【Objective】To explore the clinical efficacy of radiation therapy combined with acupoint application in the treatment of middle and late stage esophageal cancer. 【Methods】A total of 76 patients with middle and late stage esophageal cancer treated in our hospital were randomly divided into two groups,with 38 cases in each group. The control group received radiation therapy,while the observation group received radiation therapy combined with acupoint application. The Chinese medicine symptom scores,clinical efficacy,changes in serum levels of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and cytokeratin 19 fragment antigen (CYFRA21-1) before and after treatment,as well as the occurrence of adverse drug reactions were compared between the two groups. 【Results】After treatment,the Chinese medicine symptom scores of patients in both groups were lower than before treatment(P<0.05),and the score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group was 86.84%(33/38),which was higher than the 65.79%(25/38) of the control group(P<0.05). After treatment,the levels of CYFRA21-1 and VEGF in both groups were lower than before treatment(P<0.05),and the levels of each indicator in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). The incidence of adverse drug reactions during treatment in the observation group was 7.89%(3/38),which was lower than the 28.95%(11/38) in the control group(P<0.05). 【Conclusion】The combined treatment of radiation therapy and acupoint application in middle and late stage esophageal cancer can relieve patients' symptoms,improve efficacy,improve patients' CYFRA21-1 and VEGF levels,and reduce the incidence of adverse drug reactions,which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
