Abstract  【Objective】This study aimed to investigate the effects of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) combined with amisulpride treatment on cognitive function and serum cytokine levels in patients with schizophrenia. 【Methods】Ninety-six patients with schizophrenia were randomly divided into two groups, with 48 patients in each group. The control group received oral amisulpride treatment, while the observation group received rTMS in addition to amisulpride treatment. The Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) scores,Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) scores, serum markers [interleukin-1β (IL-1β),interleukin-6 (IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)],and occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. 【Results】After treatment, both groups showed higher scores in the number of categories completed and total correct responses and lower scores in the total number of responses, perseverative errors, and total errors compared to before treatment (P<0.05). Moreover, the observation group had significantly better scores in all these measures compared to the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, both groups had lower scores in positive symptoms, negative symptoms, general psychopathology, and total PANSS scores compared to before treatment (P<0.05); And the observation group showed significantly lower scores in all these measures compared to the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, both groups had decreased levels of serum IL-1β,IL-6,and TNF-α compared to before treatment (P<0.05),while the observation group had lower levels of serum IL-6 and TNF-α compared to the control group (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the overall incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). 【Conclusion】rTMS combined with amisulpride treatment in patients with schizophrenia is beneficial in suppressing IL-6 and TNF-α levels, reducing symptoms, and improving cognitive function. It has good clinical application value.
