Abstract  【Objective】 To investigate the correlation between the expression of hepatoma derived growth factor (HDGF),Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and the risk of invasion and metastasis of liver cancer. 【Methods】 A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 82 liver cancer patients who underwent surgical resection treatment at the Northwest University Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Third Hospital from July 2019 to July 2022. Liver cancer tissue samples and adjacent tissues were collected from the patients. Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of HDGF and VEGF in liver cancer tissue and adjacent tissues, and to compare the expression of HDGF and VEGF in liver cancer patients with different clinical and pathological characteristics. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors affecting the expression of HDGF and VEGF in liver cancer tissue. 【Results】 The positive expression rates of HDGF and VEGF in liver cancer tissues were higher than those in adjacent tissues, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There was a statistically significant difference in the expression of HDGF and VEGF in liver cancer tissues with different AJCC stages, capsule integrity, and tumor metastasis (P<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression model analysis showed that AJCC stage, capsule integrity, and tumor metastasis were influence factors affecting the expression of HDGF and VEGF in liver cancer tissue (P<0.05). 【Conclusions】 HDGF and VEGF are highly expressed in liver cancer tissue, and are related to AJCC staging, capsule integrity, and tumor metastasis, which has certain reference value for evaluating liver cancer progression.
