Reference Range and Influencing Factors of Young's Modulus of Thyroid in Healthy Children Assessed by Real-time Shear Wave Elastography |

Abstract 【Objective】 To explore the reference range and influencing factors of real-time shear wave ultrasonic elastography (SWE) in evaluating the maximum value (Emax), minimum value (Emin) and mean value (Emean) of Young's modulus of thyroid in healthy children. 【Methods】 A total of 314 healthy children in Hunan Children's Hospital who underwent SWE examination and recorded Emax, Emin, and Emean were selected to compare the differences of thyroid Young's modulus of elasticity Emax, Emin, and Emean among healthy children of different sexes, different ages, and left and right long axes. 【Results】 The thyroid Young's modulus Emax, Emin, and Emean of 314 healthy children were (13.630±3.520) KPa, (9.160 ± 2.927) KPa and (11.189 ± 3.127) KPa, respectively. There was no significant difference in young's modulus values Emax, Emin, and Emean of the left and right long axis thyroid of healthy children between different genders (P>0.05); The thyroid Young's modulus values Emax, Emin, and Emean of healthy children at different ages were statistically significant (P<0.05).【Conclusion】 As a quantitative and non-invasive examination method for thyroid hardness, SWE can calculate the reference range of Emax, Emin, and Emean in thyroid tissue of healthy children according to the collected data, but it is affected by age, which provides a reference basis for further formulating the reference value of normal modulus of elasticity of children's thyroid and diagnosing thyroid diseases.
