Relationship of Serum IL-38, sTREM-1, and IL-6 Levels with Status of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease |

Abstract 【Objective】To investigate the changes of serum interleukin-38 (IL-38), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and soluble myeloid receptor-1 (sTREM-1) in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and their significance. 【Methods】A total of 100 patients with COPD were selected as the COPD group while 100 healthy volunteers without lung disease were selected as the control group. Serum IL-38, sTREM-1, and IL-6 levels were measured in both groups. According to COPD condition, patients were divided into a stable phase group and an acute stratification group. 【Results】The levels of serum IL-38, sTREM-1, and IL-6 in the COPD group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Serum IL-38, sTREM-1, IL-6 levels of patients in the acute stratification group were significantly higher than those of patients in the stable phase group (P<0.05). FEV1%pred (the forced expiratory volume in the first second as a percentage of the predicted value) and FEV1/FVC (forced vital capacity) in patients with acute exacerbation of COPD were lower than that in stable phase, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The CAT score of the acute stratification group was higher than that of the stable phase group (P<0.05). The CAT score of COPD patients was positively correlated with IL-38, sTREM-1 and IL-6 levels (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】The levels of serum IL-38, sTREM-1, and IL-6 in patients with COPD increased significantly and were related to the severity of the disease.
