Abstract  【Objective】To investigate the expression levels of interleukin-4 (IL-4), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin-8 (IL-8) in the serum of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and their clinical significance.【Methods】From February 2017 to may 2018, 40 COPD patients (COPD group) and 40 healthy adults who received physical examination in the same period were selected as the control group. The levels of serum IL-4, IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α, pulmonary function indexes (FVC, FVC1, MMEF and PEF) and blood gas indexes (pH, PaCO2,PaO2) were compared between the two groups. The correlation of serum IL -4, IL-6 and IL -8 with TNF-α, lung function and blood gas were analyzed. 【Results】The levels of IL-4, IL-6, IL-8 and TNF -αin the COPD group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05); the levels of FVC, FVC1, MMEF and PEF in the COPD group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05); the levels of pH and PaO2 in the COPD group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05);the level of PaCO2 was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05); the levels of IL-4, IL-6 and IL-8 in the COPD group were positively correlated with the levels of TNF -αand PaCO2 , and FVC, FVC1, MMEF, PEF, pH and PaO2 were negatively correlated.【Conclusion】The serum levels of IL-4, IL-6 and IL-8 are higher in COPD patients, and are closely related to lung function and blood gas index.
