Abstract 【Objective】Clinical value of long subcutaneous jugular tunnel-internal jugular vein-central venous catheter implantation (LSJICC) in improving catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs) in elderly patients.【Methods】 Three hundred and forty-six elderly patients who needed central venous catheterization in our hospital from January 2013 to October 2016 were selected. All patients were followed up for one year. The distribution of pathogens in CRBSSIs patients was analyzed. Cox regression model was used to screen independent influencing factors on the prognosis of CRBSI patients.【Results】The poor prognosis rate was 9.54%. The top three pathogens of CRBSIs were Staphylococcus aureus, Acinetobacter baumannii and Candida. Multivariate Cox regression showed that age, smoking, catheterization time, type of bacteria and type of disease had significant influence on the poor prognosis of patients after operation (P<0.05).【Conclusion】LSJICC has certain clinical value in preventing CRBSIs in elderly patients.
