Expression of CACUL1 in Breast Cancer and Its Correlation with Psychosocial Factors |

Abstract 【Objective】 To analyze the expression of CACUL1 in breast cancer and its correlation with psychosocial factors. 【Methods】 A total of 169 patients with breast cancer who underwent radical mastectomy in our hospital from June 2014 to March 2018 were enrolled for the study. The expression level of CACUL1 was compared between cancer tissues and adjacent tissues through quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), Western blot and immunohistochemical staining (IHC). According to the result of IHC, patients were divided into the high expression group (n=103) and the low expression group (n=66). Baseline data, Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Hamilton Depression Scale-17 (HAMD-17), Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS), Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) and FACT-B were compared between two groups. 【Results】 ⑴The CACUL1 expression of mRNA (2.6±0.8 vs. 1.0±0.1,P<0.001), protein (1.9±0.5 vs. 1.0±0.2,P<0.001) and IHC score (55.6±20.9 vs. 18.6±7.2,P<0.001) in breast cancer tissues were significantly higher than those in adjacent tissues. ⑵Age, monthly income < 5000 yuan and the proportion of stage III-IV in the high expression group were significantly higher than those in low expression group (P<0.05). ⑶The scores of HAMA, HAMD-17, neuroticism and psychoticism of EPQ, social/family status, emotional status and total scores of FACT-B in the high expression group were significantly higher than those in the low expression group, and the scores of subjective support, utilization of social support and total score of SSRS were significantly lower than those in the low expression group (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 The expression level of CACUL1 in breast cancer tissues is significantly higher than that in adjacent tissues, and it is related to psychosocial factors. Patients with high expression of CACUL1 in breast cancer tissues have more negative emotions, lower social support level, lower quality of life and worse tumor staging.
