Effect of Compound Kushen Injection Combined with Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy on Cervical Cancer |

Abstract 【Objective】To evaluate the effect of compound Kushen injection combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy on cervical cancer. 【Methods】The clinical data of 105 patients with cervical cancer who were treated in our hospital from June 2015 to January 2017 were collected. According to different treatment regimens, patients were divided into the single-use group and the combined group. The single-use group consisted of 52 cases who were given concurrent radiotherapy and chemotherapy, while the combined group of 53 cases received the compound Kushen injection plus chemoradiotherapy. T lymphocyte subsets, natural killer cells (NK) and serum tumor antigens [insulin-like growth factor-2 (IGF-2), squamous cell carcinoma-associated antigens were observed before and after treatment for 3 courses. SCC and cytokeratin 19 fragment antigen (CYFRA21-1)] were measured before treatment and after 3 courses of treatment. The therapeutic efficacy and safety between the two groups were evaluated and compared. 【Results】The total effective rate of the combined group was 52.83% (28/53), which was significantly higher than that of the single-use group, which was 32.69% (17/52). The incidence of adverse reactions was 47.17% (25/53) in the combined group, which was lower than in the single-use group, which was 75.00% (39/52). The difference was statistically significant ( P < 0.05). The levels of CD3+, CD4+, CD4+/CD8+ and NK in the combined group were higher than those in the single-use group, and the differences were statistically significant ( P < 0.05). The CD8+ level in the combined group was lower than that in the single-use group ( P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of IGF-2, SCC and CYFRA21-1 in the combined group were lower than those in the single-use group ( P < 0.05). 【Conclusion】The application of Kushen injection combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy in patients with cervical cancer is effective in promoting the enhancement of cellular immune function, reducing the level of tumor antigen and reducing the occurrence of adverse reaction.
