| Effect of Shenshuai Enema (Renal Failure Enema) on Quality of Life in Patients with Decompensated Chronic Renal Failure |

Abstract 【Objective】To explore the effect of Shenshuai enema (renal failure enema) on anemia, toxin removal and quality of life in patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) in decompensated stage. 【Methods】A total of 94 patients with CRF in the decompensated stage were randomly divided into two groups, with 47 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional therapy, and the enema group received Shenshuai enema treatment for two weeks on the basis of conventional therapy. The therapeutic effect, anemia, toxin clearance and quality of life were compared between the two groups. 【Results】The total effective rate in the enema group was significantly higher than that in the control group (91.19% vs 74.47%); the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of hemoglobin, red blood cell count and white blood cell count increased significantly in the two groups, the values in the enema group increased more significantly than those in the control group (P<0.05). The anemia improvement rate in enema group was 93.02% (40/43), which was significantly higher than that in the control group 76.19% (32/42) (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of serum creatinine, blood uric acid, blood urea nitrogen, serum phosphorus and serum cystatin decreased significantly. The quality of life scores also increased significantly (P<0.05). The changes in the enema group were more significant than those in the control group (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Renal failure enema can significantly relieve the symptoms and anemia, improve renal toxin clearance rate and the quality of life in patients with CRF.
