Expression of HIF-1α、VEGF and MMP-9 in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer |

Abstract 【Objective】To investigate the expression of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and explore their clinical applications.【Methods】The expression of HIF-1α, VEGF and MMP-9 was measured by immunohistochemistry in 91 cases of NSCLC and corresponding adjacent normal tissues. The relationship between these three factors and the clinicopathological parameters of NSCLC was analyzed.【Results】The expression of HIF-1α, VEGF and MMP-9 in cancer tissue of NSCLC was higher than that in adjacent normal tissues (P<0.05). The positive rates of HIF-1α, VEGF and MMP-9 in low differentiated NSCLC were higher than those in moderate and highly differentiated NSCLC (P<0.05). The positive rates of HIF-1α, VEGF and MMP-9 in Ⅲ~Ⅳ stage were higher than those in Ⅰ~Ⅱ stage (P<0.05). The positive rates of HIF-1α, VEGF and MMP-9 in NSCLC with lymph node metastasis were higher than those in non-lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). The expression of HIF-1α, VEGF and MMP-9 in NSCLC tissue was not correlated with age, sex, tumor diameter and pathological type. The positive expression of HIF-1α, VEGF and MMP-9 in NSCLC was positively related with one another (P<0.05).【Conclusion】HIF-1α, VEGF and MMP-9 promoted the occurrence and development of NSCLC; the combined detection of these three factors may provide a more valuable prognosis evaluation and target therapy of NSCLC.
