Correlation between Cytokine Levels in Amniotic Fluid of Second Trimester with Spontaneous Preterm Delivery in Middle-aged Pregnant Women |

Abstract 【Objective】To study the correlation between cytokine levels in amniotic fluid during the second trimester and spontaneous preterm delivery in middle-aged women. 【Methods】Forty-three pregnant women with spontaneous preterm delivery who were admitted to our hospital from March 2014 to November 2015 were selected as the premature group. Forty normal pregnant women were selected as the control group. The levels of cytokines (IL-16, IL-8, IL-6, CRP, and TNF-α ) were measured from amniotic fluid of the two groups, and the correlation of cytokines' level with spontaneous preterm delivery was analyzed. 【Results】The levels of IL-16, IL-8, IL-6, CRP and TNF-α in premature group were (201.37±18.74)pg/mL、(786.14±146.28)pg/mL,(141.25±13.87)pg/mL,(176.22±12.34)ng/mL, and(114.27±15.64)pg/mL, respectively, significantly higher than those in the control group[(157.46±10.43)pg/mL,(413.91±84.67)pg/mL,(122.94±8.63)pg/mL,(132.18±8.64)ng/mL, and(76.48±7.69)pg/mL], respectively. The differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Through the logistic analysis of influencing factors, the levels of IL-16, IL-8, IL-6, CRP and TNF-α were found to be significantly correlated with the occurrence of spontaneous preterm birth in middle-aged women (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 The level of cytokines in amniotic fluid of middle pregnancy is closely related to the occurrence of spontaneous preterm delivery in middle-aged pregnant women, and it can be used as early clinical screening indicators.
