Abstract 【Objective】To investigate the expression and significance of CD8+ and CD4+ memory T cells in active pulmonary tuberculosis and TB latent infection. 【Methods】Patients diagnosed with active tuberculosis and latent infection in our hospital were chosen as the subject. There were 25 cases of active pulmonary tuberculosis patients (TB group), 25 cases of latent tuberculosis infection (latent infection group), and 30 cases of healthy people (healthy group). CD4+ and CD8+ memory T cells in peripheral blood were detected by flow cytometry. The results were compared with patients' high-resolution CT scores (HRCT) to analyze the correlation between the two. 【Results】The level of CD4+ Tcm and CD8+ Tcm in the latent infection group was higher than that of the active pulmonary TB group and healthy group; the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Also, the expression of CD4+ and CD8+ Tcm in TB group was higher than that of the healthy group with statistical significance (P<0.05). On the other hand, the level of CD4+ Tem and CD8+ Tem in TB group and latent infection group was significantly lower than that in the healthy group; the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). However, the differential expression in CD4+ Tem and CD8+ Tem between the patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and the patients with latent infection was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Furthermore, the level CD4+ Tcm and CD8+ Tcm in TB patients had significant negative correlation with HRCT score (P<0.05). However, in TB patients, the level of CD4+ Tem and CD8+ Tem level had no significant correlation coefficient (P>0.05) with HRCT score. 【Conclusion】Levels of Central memory T cells of CD4+ Tcm and CD8+ Tcm in the active and latent tuberculosis infection patients were significantly increased, which may reflect the degree of injury of pulmonary tuberculosis.
