| Application of Sevoflurane and Remifentanil and its Effect on Inflammatory Cytokines in Obstetric General Anesthesia |

Abstract 【Objective】To study the effects of sevoflurane combined with remifentanil in obstetric general anesthesia and its effect on inflammatory cytokines. 【Methods】 One hundred pregnant women in our obstetrics department were divided into two groups according to the chronology of their arrival: Group A and group B (n=50). Group B received propofol and remifentanil anesthesia while Group A received anesthesia with sevoflurane and remifentanil. The anesthetic effects and the impact of anesthesia on the inflammatory cytokines were observed. 【Results】 The change in mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR) in group A at different time points was not significantly different (P＞0.05). In group B, MAP and HR were significantly lower at the time of induction and time of delivery than before induction, 5 min after delivery, and after extubation (P<0.05). MAP and HR at the time of induction and time of delivery in group A was much higher than in group B. The levels of IL-6, IL-10, and TNF-α were significantly lower 5 min after delivery in group A than in group B (P<0.05). The breathing recovery time in group A was (10.3±1.7)min, the extubation time was (12.6±1.2) min, and the time it took to respond to the command "open your eyes" was (11.8±1.9) min. These values were lower than those of group B, which were (13.8±1.1, 18.3±2.3, 15.3±2.4) min, respectively. The differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Sevoflurane combined with remifentanil is useful for general anesthesia in the obstetrics department. The release of inflammatory cytokines was relieved. The anesthesia stress response was less and it is worthy for clinical applications.
