| Clinical Effects of Dexmedetomidine with Propofol in Painless Colonoscopy |

Abstract 【Objective】To observe the clinical applications and effects of dexmedetomidine with propofol in painless colonoscopy. 【Methods】One hundred painless colonoscopy patients in our hospital were chosen as our study subjects and, according to the prescribed anesthesia program, were divided into the control group (n=50) and observation group (n=50). Patients in the control group were given propofol in conjunction with sufentanil, while the patients in the observation group were given dexmedetomidine with propofol. The anesthetic effects and safety were compared between the two groups.【Results】 The surgery time, recovery time, and hospital stay were significantly shorter in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). The propofol dosage given in the observation group was much less than the dosage given to the control group (P<0.05). The preoperative VAS scores, however, were not statistically different (P>0.05). At times 0.5h, 4h, and 8h postoperation, the VAS scores were significantly lower than in the control group (P<0.05). The rate of postoperative complications in the observation group was 8.0%, significantly lower than the 24.0% rate in the control group (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 Compared with the use of propofol and sufentanil anesthesia in painless colonoscopy, propofol with dexmedetomidine anesthesia has a superior anesthetic effect and greater safety. Therefore it is worthy for wide applications.
