Abstract 【Objective】To explore the clinical effects of laparoscopic surgery on the removal of tumors on the tail of the pancreas. 【Methods】Fifty cases of pancreatic cancer patients who underwent pancreatic tail resection in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Of the 50 total patients, 27 had laparoscopic surgery (laparoscopic group), and 23 patients had laparotomy (abdomen-open group). The perioperative and postoperative complications were compared between the two groups of patients. 【Results】The operative time and transfusion rates were not significantly different between the two groups (P>0.05). The blood loss, incision length, postoperative analgesia rate, postoperative exhaust time, eating time, and hospital stay were significantly lower in the laparoscopic patients than in the laparotomy patients (P<0.05). Complication rates in laparoscopic patients (18.52%) were significantly lower than in the laparotomy patients (47.83%) (χ2= 4.903,P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Laparoscopic resection of cancer tumors on the pancreatic tail results in faster recovery time and fewer postoperative complications.
