Abstract 【Objective】To perform clinical analysis of Pneumonectomy for 138 patients with tuberculosisdestroyed lungs. 【Methods】Retrospective analysis of 138 patients and their data from June of 1985 to October of 2010. Of them, 76 had tuberculosisdestroyed left lung and 62 had tuberculosisdestroyed right lung. Operative success, negative sputum postoperation, complication of surgery, and death rates were all measured and compared in the patients. 【Results】Of the total 138 patients, all patients had successful removal of tuberculosisdestroyed lung by surgery, however, 89.86% (124/138) patients were cured, 92.75% (128/138) showed negative sputum after operation, 16.67% (23/138) had postoperation complication, and mortality rates were 3.62% (5/138). 【Conclusion】Pneumonectomy is quite successful and objectively, it can be seen that the procedure can save many lives.
