Advantages and Disadvantages of Two Nutrition Passages and Nursing Strategy in Severe Head Injury Patients |

Abstract 【Objective】To compare the advantages and disadvantages between nasogastric tube and gastrojejunostomy tube which was placed by percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) in severe head injury patients and to discuss the importance of appropriate nursing in patients with these two nutrition tubes.【Methods】Through detail analysis of the nutrient intake in 84 patients with severe head injury, the daily actual enteral nutrition value, complications, and accept index were compared between nasogastric tube and gastrojejunostomy tube.【Results】Actual enteral nutrition value is better in gastrojejunostomy tube group than nasogastric tube group. The gastrojejunostomy tube group has some surgical complications. The incidence of diarrhea is higher, while the incidence of gastric Dyskinesia is lower in Gastrojejunostomy tube group than nasogastric tube group. Nasogastric tube group has a better accept index than gastrojejunostomy tube group. 【Conclusion】The nutrition effects by gastrojejunostomy tube is better than nasogastric tube. Both methods have disadvantages and advantages. Appropriate nursing may overcome their shortcomings.
