Abstract [Objective]To explore the curative effect of corneoscleral limbus versus clear corneal incisions during phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation .[Methods]A total of 120 cataract patients were selected from January 2011 to January 2014 to undergo phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation . They were divided into observation and control groups ( n=60 each) .The observation group underwent lim‐bal incision while the control group had clear corneal incision .Both groups were observed with regards to vi‐sion ,astigmatism and complications at Day 1 ,Week 1 ,Month 1 and Month 3 .[Results]The parameters of un‐corrected visual acuity and astigmatism were much better in observation group than those in control group . And the differences were statistically significant ( P <0 .05) .But no significant inter‐group difference existed in complications ( P > 0 .05 ) .[Conclusion]During phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation for cataract patients ,use of modified corneoscleral rim incision is significantly superior to that of clear corneal inci‐sion .The postoperative visual acuity is better with a smaller degree of corneal astigmatism .And it is worthy of wider clinical applications .
