Abstract Objective]To observe the effect of additional lamotrigine therapy on interleukin‐2(IL‐2) ,tumor necrosis factor‐alpha(TNF‐α) and cognitive function in pediatric patients with intractable epilepsy .[Methods]A total of 35 pediat‐ric patients with intractable epilepsy were selected as observation group and given additional lamotrigine therapy .Mean‐while 35 healthy children were selected as control group .Serum levels of IL‐2 ,TNF‐αand Chinese Wechsler intelligence scale for children (C‐WISC) score in observation group before and after treatment were observed and compared with the control group .[Results]There was no significant difference in serum levels of IL‐2 and TNF‐α,verbal intelligence quo‐tient(VIQ) ,performance intelligence quotient(PIQ) and full intelligence quotient(FIQ) in observation group between be‐fore and after treatment( P>0 .05) ,but the knowledge score was increased significantly( P<0 .05) .[Conclusion]Addi‐tional lamotrigine therapy can improve the cognitive function of pediatric patients with intractable epilepsy partially ,but has no obvious effect on serum levels of IL‐2 and TNF‐α.
