Abstract Objective]To explore the value of Tei index in the evaluation of left heart function of myocar‐dial damage in children with infectious mononucleosis(IM ) .[Methods]Left ventricular ejection fraction(EF) , mitral valve early diastolic blood flow velocity peak(E)/late diastolic blood flow velocity peak(A) ratio ,left ventricular isovolumetric contraction time(ICT ) ,isovolumic relaxation time(IRT ) and ejection time(ET ) in 96 cases of IM with myocardial damage(observation group) and 40 normal subjects(control group) were measured and compared .Tei index was calculated .[Results]There was no significant difference in EF and E/A between observation group and control group( P >0 .05) .Compared with control group ,left ventricular Tei index in observation group was obviously increased[(0 .48 ± 0 .09) vs .(0 .39 ± 0 .08)]( P <0 .05) .Tei index was not significantly correlated with EF and E/A( P >0 .05) .[Conclusion]Pediatric patients with IM and myocardial damage have abnormal whole cardiac function .Tei index can conveniently and sensitively detect the change of cardiac function .
