Abstract Objective To explore the efficacy of the modified intranasal endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy for the treatment of acute attack of chronic dacryocystitis .[Methods] A total of 26 patients with acute attack of chronic dacryo-cystitis undergoing the modified intranasal endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy were collected .The curative rate ,effective rate and complications were observed .[Results]All 26 patients successfully underwent the operation with less intraopera-tive blood loss .Dacryocyst inflammation of patients was controlled about 4d after operation .All patients were followed up for 6 months .The curative rate was 92 .3% (24/26) .One patient with epiphora had the washing liquid reflux between upper and lower lacrimal canaliculi and was evaluated as improvement .The effective rate was 96 .2% (25/26) .One pa-tient with epiphora and secretions had the stoma scar atresia under endoscope and was evaluated as inefficiency .The ineffi-ciency rate was 3 .8% (1/26) .No obvious complication occurred .[Conclusion] Acute phase dacryocystorhinostomy for the treatment of chronic dacryocystitis patients with acute attack is safe and feasible .
