Abstract Objective To analyze the correlation between cholecystectomy and metabolic syndrome (MS) in order to provide the basis for the better realization and the decreasing of the damage of MS .[Methods] The health examination data of 4537 subjects attending health examination in our hospital at 2012 were analyzed retrospectively .The correlation between cholecystectomy and the prevalence of MS and the constituents was analyzed .[Results]The prevalence of gallstones ,cholecystectomy and MS in all subjects were 5 .9% ,3 .4%and 32 .7% ,respectively .The prevalence of MS in patients undergoing cholecystectomy (63 .5% ) was signifi-cantly higher than that in patients with gallstones (45 .5% ) and patients without gallbladder disease(30 .7% ) . Further multiple logistic regression analysis showed that cholecystectomy was related with the risk factors of MS(OR :2 .181 ,95% CI:1 .295-3 .674) .[Conclusion] The prevalence of MS in patients with cholecystecto-my is increased significantly ,and cholecystectomy is associated with the risk factors of MS .
