Abstract To explore the changes and influential factors of arterial stiffness in elderly patients with diabetesmellitus (DM) mergedmet abolicsyndrome(MS).[Methods]Totally 246 elderly patients with DM in our sanatorium were chosen .According to the merging or not ,all patients were divided into merging MS group( n=120) and no merging MS group( n=126) .Other 62 healthy old people were chosen as the control group .Pulse wave conduction velocity (PWV) ,blood pressure ,blood lipid ,fasting blood glucose(FBG) ,high-sensitivity C-re-active protein(hs-CRP) ,fasting insulin(FINS) ,insulin resistance index (HOMA IR) ,waist circumference and body mass index(BMI) of all patients were measured .[Results] Neck-femoral artery PWV in DM patients was significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.05).Multiple-factor regression analysis showed that PWV was positively correlated with FBG ,hs-CRP ,FINS ,blood pressure ,blood lipid ,patients'age and HOMA-IR .[Conclusion]Senile DM can significantly increase arterial stiffness .Arterial stiffness has a rising trend due to the merging MS.
