Abstract [Obj ective]To explore the efficacy and complications of phacoemulsification for the treatment of children with cataract.[Methods]A total of 56 children with cataract(68 eyes)underwent phacoemulsification combined with or without intraocular lens implantation.All patients were followed up for 3~5 years.The recov-ery of visual function and complications were observed.[Results]The visual acuity of 99.8% of patients was im-proved.Patients with visual acuity≥0.5 accounted for 57%.The main complications were uveitis,corneal edema, after-cataract,secondary glaucoma and intraocular lens shift.[Conclusion]Phacoemulsification for the treatment of children with cataract has reliable long-term efficacy,but the incidence of postoperative glaucoma and iritis is higher and should be paid more attention.
