Abstract [Objective]To explore the expression and significance of VEGF in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC).[Methods]SP immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of VEGF in paraffin specimens from 50 cases of TNBC(TNBC group)and 50 cases of non-TNBC(non-TNBC group). The relation-ship between VEGF and clinical pathological factors of TNBC and the effect of VEGF on the prognosis were analyzed.[Results]The positive expression rate of VEGF in TNBC was 50.0%(25/50)which was markedly higher than that in non-TNBC group(30.0%,15/50),and there was significant difference between two groups(χ2=4.92,P<0.05).The expression of VEGF in TNBC tissues was closely associated with axillary lymph node metastasis and cancer embolus in vessels(P<0.05).The 5-year disease-free survival(DFS)and overall survival(OS)of patients with VEGF positive expression in TNBC group were 16.0%(4/25)and 76.6%(19/25)respectively,and those of patients with VEGF negative expression in TNBC group were 48.0%(12/25)and 96.0%(24/25)respectively,and there was significant difference between two groups(P<0.05).[Conclusion]VEGF plays an important role in the occurrence and development of TNBC.VEGF can improve the proliferation ability and metastasis potentials of tumor cells. The abnormal increasing of VEGF expression may predict the poor prognosis.
