Abstract [Objective] To observe clinical efficacy of Longdan Xiegan pills (LXP) combined with western medicine for the treatment of herpes zoster .[Methods] A total of 60 patients were randomly divided into ob-servation group and control group with 30 patients in each group .The control group was treated with normal western medicine ,while the observation group was given LXP combined with western medicine .The duration was 10 days .The disappearance time of clinical symptoms of two groups was observed .Adverse reactions were recorded .The efficacy was evaluated .[Results] The time of stopping vesication ,incrustation time and analgesia time in observation group were shorter than those in control group ( P <0 .05) .The total effective rate of observation group and control group was 93 .33% and 73 .33% respectively ,and there was significant difference( P<0 .05) .The incidence of neuralgia in observation group was lower than that in control group ( P<0 .05) .There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reaction between two groups ( P >0 .05) .[Conclusion] LXP combined with western medicine for the treatment of herpes zoster is safe ,effective and convenient to take ,so it is worthy of clinical application .
