Abstract [Objective] To explore the characteristics of electrocardiogram (ECG) in elderly patients aged over 60 years old ,and to analyze the rule and causes of abnormal ECG .[Methods] Totally 260 elderly patients aged over 60 years old received physical examination by using 12-lead ECG .The relationship of abnormal ECG with age ,gender and basic diseases were analyzed .[Results] Among 260 elderly patients ,205 patients(227 cases) had abnormal ECG .The proportion of abnormal ECG increased with the age .The proportion of male patients with abnormal ECG in different age group was higher than that of female patients .ST segment change and cardiac arrhythmia in abnormal ECG were commonly seen .The most common basic diseases were hyper-tension ,coronary artery disease and cardiopulmonary disease .[Conclusion] The proportion of abnormal ECG and cardiovascular disease in elderly patients increases with the age .ECG examination should be a regularity health screening item for old people .
