Abstract [Objective] To explore clinical efficacy and safety of escitalopram citalopram combined with olanzapine for the treatment of senile schizophrenia with depression .[Methods] Eighty elderly patients with schizophrenia and depression were randomly divided into control group and observation group .The observation group( n=40) was given escitalopram citalopram combined with olanzapine treatment ,while the control group ( n = 40) was given olanzapine treatment .The treatment lasted for 12 weeks .Hamilton depression scale (HAMD) and treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS) was used to assess before and 4 ,8 and 12 weeks af-ter treatment .[Results]There was no significant difference in HAMD scores between two groups before treat-ment( P >0 .05) .HAMD scores of observation group and control group 4 ,8 and 12 weeks after treatment were lower than those before treatment ( P < 0 .05) .HAMD scores of observation group were lower than those of control group at 4 ,8 and 12 weeks(P<0 .05) .The effective rate of observation group was higher than that of control group(85 .0% vs .60 .0% ,P<0 .05) .There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between two groups ( P > 0 .05) .[Conclusion]Escitalopram citalopram combined with olanzapine for the treatment of senile schizophrenia with depression has good efficacy and high safety .
