Abstract [Objective] To explore the correlation between blood pressure variability and left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) in patients with essential hypertension .[Methods] Totally 60 patients with essential hy-pertension were monitored by echocardiogram and dynamic blood pressure .According to left ventricular mass index(LVMI) ,all patients were divided into left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) group and non-LVH group . Mean blood pressure and blood pressure variability were compared between two groups .[Results] The 24h systolic blood pressure (24hSBP) ,24h diastolic blood pressure (24hDBP) ,daytime systolic blood pressure (dSBP) ,daytime diastolic blood pressure (dDBP) ,night systolic blood pressure (nSBP) and night diastolic blood pressure(nDBP) in LVH group were markedly higher than those in non-LVH group ,and there was sig-nificant difference( P <0 .05) .Compared with non-LVH group ,the indexes of blood pressure variability in LVH group except dDBP were increased ,and there was significant difference( P <0 .05) .[Conclusion] The occurrence of LVH in patients with essential hypertension is closely related to blood pressure variability .The increasing of blood pressure variability is valuable for predicting the risk of LVH .
