Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the clinical efficacy of lidocaine in the treatment of refractory renal colic in the emergency department. 【Methods】A total of 80 patients with renal colic whose VAS pain scores were still greater than 8 points after receiving non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and the smooth muscle spasm analgesic were selected from the emergency department in our hospital from February 2016 to February 2018, . All patients were randomly divided into lidocaine group and fentanyl group, with 40 cases in each group. The VAS pain scores were recorded and compared at the time of admission and at 10,20,and 30 minutes after injection of lidocaine and fentanyl, respectively. 【Results】There was no significant difference in VAS pain scores between the two groups at the time of admission. Patients in both groups were able to relieve pain at 10,20, and 30 minutes after the injection. However, the VAS score was lower in the lidocaine group than in the fentanyl group. There was a statistical difference between the two groups (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Both lidocaine and fentanyl are effective in relieving renal colic, but lidocaine has a faster onset, lower cost, better effect, and fewer side effects, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
