Abstract:【Objective】 To investigate the effect of Kinesio taping in combination of continuous cold therapy on detumescence after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction . 【Methods】A total of 84 patients who underwent arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in our department from January 2015 to December -2017 were selected as the subjects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into the observation group and the control group, with 42 cases in each group. Kinesio Taping treatment was given to patients in the control group immediately after surgery..The Kinesio taping was administrated once every two days for one week and sustained for 48h. While patients in the observation group, in addition to treatment of the control group, received continuous cold therapy starting within 6h after operation for 3 consecutive days . The pain degree (VAS score), the degree of swelling, the function of the knee joint (Lysholm score) and the effect of detumescence (swelling reduction) were compared between the two groups. 【Results】The rate of detumescence in the observation group was 69.05%, which was higher than that in the control group (38.10%). The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the VAS scores in both groups decreased, and the VAS score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group at the same time period; the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The swelling value of the observation group at each time after treatment was less than that of the control group at the same time(P<0.05). At 4 weeks after treatment, the Lysholm score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group; the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Kinesio taping combined with continuous cold therapy can effectively relieve swelling and pain after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, and promote early rehabilitation of knee joint function.It is worthy of clinical promotion.
