Abstract：【Objective】To investigate the effect of amiodarone on the recurrence and atrial structure in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation after radiofrequency ablation.【Methods】The clinical data of 100 patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation admitted in our hospital from December 2012 to December 2014 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were treated with radiofrequency ablation and were divided into two groups: control group (routine treatment + losartan, n=50) and observation group (treated with amiodarone on the basis of the control group). The recurrence after operation was compared between the two groups 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 12 months, 18 months after treatment. The levels of serum hs-CRP were compared between the two groups before and after operation. The left atrial internal diameter (LAD) and the left atrial volume (LAV) were also compared.【Results】There was no significant difference in recurrence rate between the two groups at 1 week postoperatively (P>0.05). The recurrence rate at 1 month, 3 months, 12 months and 18 months after operation in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The serum hs-CRP levels in the observation group and the control group were significantly higher than those before operation at 3 months and 6 months after operation. The LAV in the control group was significantly lower than that before operation 18 months after operation, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). 6 months, 12 months and 18 months after operation, LAD and LAV in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).【Conclusion】Amiodarone can reduce the inflammatory response in patients after radiofrequency ablation, and significantly reduce the short-term and long-term recurrence rate of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation after radiofrequency ablation. At the same time, it can reduce left atrial diameter and improve cardiac function.
