Effects of Individualized Nutritional Intervention Based on Nutritional Risk Assessment on Nutritional Status and Life Quality of Elderly Chemotherapy Patients with Advanced Colorectal Cancer

Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the effects of individualized nutritional intervention based on nutritional risk assessment on nutritional status and life quality of elderly chemotherapy patients with advanced colorectal cancer. 【Methods】A total of 114 cases of elderly chemotherapy patients with advanced colorectal cancer admitted to hospital from April 2014 to April 2016 were selected as the research objects and divided into the observation group and the control group using the random number table method, with 57 cases in each group. Patients in the control group received routine nursing intervention, while patients in the observation group were received individual nutritional intervention based on nutritional risk assessment. The nutritional status and life quality of patients in the two groups were compared. 【Results】The levels of serum pre-albumin (PA), albumin (ALB), hemoglobin (Hb) and other indicators in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05); the scores of life quality including cognitive function, physical function, social function and emotional role were significantly higher than those in Control Group(P<0.05). 【Conclusion】Individualized nutritional intervention based on nutritional risk assessment can significantly improve the nutritional status as well as the life quality of elderly chemotherapy patients with advanced colorectal cancer.
