Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the expression of Survivin, matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and MMP-9 in thyroid carcinoma, and to explore its significance. 【Methods】The expression of Survivin, MMP-2 and MMP-9 in 86 cases of thyroid carcinoma, 40 cases of benign thyroid tissue, and 86 cases of adjacent normal tissues were detected by the immunohistochemical method. The relationship between Survivin, MMP-2 and MMP-9 and clinical pathological parameters was analyzed. 【Results】 The positive rate of Survivin, MMP-2 and MMP-9 in adjacent normal tissues, benign thyroid tissue and thyroid carcinoma increased in that order . The expression of Survivin, MMP-2, and MMP-9 in thyroid carcinoma was significantly higher than that in the benign thyroid tissues and adjacent normal tissues (P<0.001). The positive rate of Survivin, MMP-2 and MMP-9 in Ⅲ~Ⅳ stage was higher than that in theⅠ~Ⅱ stage (P<0.05). The positive rate of Survivin, MMP-2, and MMP-9 in lymph node metastasis cases was higher than that in in cases without lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). The positive rate of survivin, MMP-2, and MMP-9 in thyroid carcinoma wasn't related to age, gender and tumor diameter. The expression of Survivin, MMP-2, and MMP-9 in thyroid carcinoma was positively correlated with each other. 【Conclusion】Survivin, MMP-2 and MMP-9 genes play an important role in the occurrence and development of thyroid carcinoma. The combined detection of the three might be a diagnostic index for the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid cancer.
