Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression of E2F-1 in gastric cancer tissues and its relationship with prognosis. Methods Eighty patients with gastric cancer in our hospital were enrolled in the study. The expression of E2E-1 in gastric cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues was detected, and the clinicopathological features and prognosis were analyzed. Results The positive expression rate of E2F-1 in gastric cancer tissues (71.25%) was significantly higher than that in adjacent normal tissues (23.75%) (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in positive and negative expressions of E2F-1 in relation to gender, age, histological type, tumor location, differentiation, TNM stage and lymph node metastasis in patients (P>0.05). The 2-year survival rate of patients with positive expression of E2F-1 (47.37%) was lower than that of patients with negative expression (73.91%), and the difference was statistical significant (P<0.05). Cox model univariate analysis showed that tumor location, differentiation degree, TNM stage and lymph node metastasis were related to the overall survival time of patients with gastric cancer (P<0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that lymph node metastasis and positive expression of E2F-1 were the independent risk factors influencing the survival time of patients with gastric cancer. Conclusion E2F-1 is one of the signs of malignant behavior for gastric cancer and is an important influencing factor for poor prognosis.
