Abstract:【Objective】To evaluate the relationship between serum vitamin D level and blood cholesterol in healthy pregnant women at 24~28 weeks of gestation.【Methods】Ninety-one healthy pregnant women with 24~28 weeks gestation were enrolled as the experimental group, and sixty-three non-gestational healthy women were recruited as the control group. All cases were from our hospital from May 2012 to August 2013. General information (name, age, height, weight, gestational weeks) and clinical data (triglyceride/TG, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol/LDL-C, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol/HDL-C, total cholesterol/TC and serum vitamin D [25 (OH) D] levels were collected, and the relation between blood cholesterol and serum vitamin D was analyzed.【Results】There was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group (P>0.05). The BMI of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.001). The level of serum 25 (OH) D in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.001), while levels of serum TG, TC, HDL-C and LDL-C were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The level of 25 (OH) D in the experimental group was significantly negatively correlated with TC (r=-0.397,P=0.039) and LDL-C (r=-0.301,P=0.041). However, it did not show significant correlation with age, BMI, TG, and HDL-C (P>0.05).【Conclusion】Serum vitamin D level is significantly related to the blood cholesterol in women at middle gestational period.
