Abstract：【Objective】To analyze the correlation between the modified Alvarado score system and pathological results of acute appendicitis during pregnancy and thus, to explore its application in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis during pregnancy. 【Methods】Clinical data of 69 cases of appendectomy during pregnancy were collected from January 2004 to January 2013 in our hospital. Correlation between the results of Alvarado scores and pathological diagnosis was analyzed. 【Results】The patients in the simplex group of appendicitis scored an average of 4.2±1.6 points and the patients in the progressive group scored an average of 7.0±1.9 points; there was significant difference between the two groups (P<0.01). The result also showed a positive correlation between scoring system and pathologic results (P<0.01). 【Conclusion】Modified Alvarado score system may facilitate the early diagnosis of acute appendicitis and the determination of the surgical treatment during pregnancy. It has important value in reducing the non-necessity emergency operation rate and appendix perforation risk.
