Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the correlation between HPV16/18 protein expression and clinicopathological features and prognosis in patients of Uygur and Han nationalities in Xinjiang with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. 【Methods】Thirty cases of Uygur patients with head neck squamous cell carcinoma and thirty cases of Han patients with head neck squamous cell carcinoma were selected in the study. The expression levels of HPV16/18 in the tissues of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma were detected and the relationship between HPV16/18 protein expression and clinicopathological features and prognosis in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma was analyzed. 【Results】The positive rate of HPV16/18 protein expression in Han populations was significantly higher than that of Uygur populations in the tissues of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (70% VS 37.7%,P<0.05). In Uygur populations, HPV16/18 expression in the tissues of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma was associated with smoking history, tumor stage, pathological grading and lymph node metastasis (LNM) (P<0.05). In Han populations, HPV16/18 protein expression in the tissue of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma cancer was associated with smoking history, drinking history, tumor stage and LNM (P<0.05). The prognosis of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma in Uygur populations was related to tumor stage, LNM and the expression of HPV16/18 protein (P<0.05). The prognosis of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma in Han populations was related to smoking history, LNM and the expression of HPV16/18 protein (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】The expression of HPV16/18 protein is related to the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma in Uygur and Han nationalities in Xinjiang, which can be used as an important index for clinical treatment and prognosis evaluation for patients.
