Abstract：【Objective】To investigate the efficacy of rosuvastatin combined with irbesartan on the improvement of carotid artery flow in patients with carotid artery atherosclerosis.【Methods】Sixty outpatients in our hospital from 2013 January to January,2014 who were confirmed of carotid atherosclerotic plaque by ultrasonography were randomly divided into two groups(Group A and Group B ), 30 patients in each group. Patients in Group A were given rosuvastatin (10mg/day, Oral)and irbesartan(150mg/day, Oral) for 12 months while Group B was given rosuvastatin (150mg/day, Oral ) only in the same period. The changes of serum lipid levels, carotid artery and carotid blood flow velocity were examined before and after treatment.【Results】Of 60 patients after treatment, the levels serum total cholesterol (TC), Triacylglycerol(TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDLC) were significantly lower than those before treatment (P<0.05). After the treatment, the carotid blood flow of Group A was improved obviously compared with those before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) , which was better than that of Group B, the difference is statistically significant (P<0.05), and the carotid artery blood flow in Group B had no significant difference before and after the treatment (P>0.05).【Conclusion】Rosuvastatin combined or not combined with irbesartan can reduce TC, TG, LDLC in carotid atherosclerosis patients with hyperlipidemia, but the combination can effectively improve the carotid artery flow.
