Abstract:Objective] To explore the efficacy of methylprednisolone pulse therapy for children with electrical status epilepticus in sleep(ESES) .[Methods]A total of 31 pediatric patients with epilepsy and ESES in pediatric outpatient de‐partment of our hospital from May 2007 to April 2013 were chosen and randomly divided into treatment group( n=16) and control group( n=15) .The treatment group was given methylprednisolone pulse therapy ,oral prednisone and con‐ventional antiepileptics valproate .The control group was only given oral valproate .All patients were followed up for 6 months .The results were analyzed .[Results]In treatment group ,12 patients were effective ,and the efficiency was 75% ,and the incidence of drug adverse reaction was 25 .7% .In control group ,15 patients were effective ,and the effi‐ciency was 46 .6% ,and the incidence of drug adverse reaction was 22 .8% .There was significant difference in the effi‐ciency between two groups( P<0 .05) ,but there was no significant difference in the incidence of drug adverse reaction rate between two groups( P>0 .05) .[Conclusion]Compared with conventional antiepileptics ,methylprednisolone pulse therapy for pediatric patients with ESES has obvious efficacy ,but the side effect of hormone therapy on pediatric patients should be paid attention .
