Abstract:Objective] To investigate the correlation of homocysteine (Hcy ) and carbohydrate antigen 125 (Ca125) with left atrial diameter(LAD) in order to explore the role of Hcy and Ca125 in the occurrence and devel‐opment of atrial fibrillation(AF) .[Methods] A total of 68 AF patients were chosen .Among them ,28 patients were paroxysmal AF and 40 patients were persistent AF(including permanent AF) .Other 30 people were chosen as healthy adult group .The levels of Hcy and Ca125 in 3 groups were examined .Echocardiography was performed in all subjects .LAD was measured .[Results] The levels of Hcy and Ca125 in persistent AF group were higher than those in healthy adult group and paroxysmal AF group .The level of Hcy in paroxysmal AF group was higher than that in healthy adult group .There was no significant difference in Ca125 level between paroxysmal AF group and healthy adult group .The levels of Hcy and Ca125 in AF group were positively correlated with LAD .[Conclu‐sion] Hcy and Ca125 have closer relationship with AF .
