Abstract:[Obj ective]To explore the relationship between free fatty acids(FFA)and subtypes of ischemic stroke.[Methods]General clinical date of 715 patients with acute ischemic stroke on admission in Hunan pro-vincial people's hospital from July 2010 to Dec.2013 were collected.The relationship between FFA concentra-tion and subtypes of ischemic stroke was analyzed retrospectively.[Results]Of 7 1 5 patients,there was signif-icant difference in serum FFA concentration between cardioembolic(CE)stroke and non-CE stroke(1194.68± 806.45Eq/L vs.793.73±611.87Eq/L)(P<0.001).FFA concentration in stroke patients with atrial fibrilla-tion(AF)was obviously higher than that in stroke patients without AF(1297.48±818.48Eq/L vs.776.50± 596.00Eq/L),and there was significant difference between two groups(P <0.001).FFA concentration in CE stroke patients with AF was obviously higher than that in non-CE stroke patients with AF(1311.53 ± 830.61Eq/L vs.894.77±663.20Eq/L),and there was also significant difference between two groups(P<0.001).[Conclusion]Fasting FFA concentration in patients with acute ischemic stroke is associated with CE stroke.The increasing of FFA concentration and combination with AF can be used as predictive indicators of CE stroke .
