Abstract:[Objective]To explore the expression and significance of VEGF in small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of cervix(SCNC).[Methods]The specimens of 23 patients with squamous carcinoma of cervix (SCC)(group SCC),23 SCNC patients(group SCNS)and 23 patients with normal cervix(control group)were collected.Immunohistochemistry method was used to detect the expression of VEGF in 3 groups. The correla-tion between VEGF expression and clinical pathological indexes of SCNC and survival time were analyzed.[Re-sults]The positive expression rates of VEGF in control group,SCC group and SCNC group were 0%,52.2%and 82.6% respectively, and there was significant difference among 3 groups(P<0.05).High expression of VEGF was correlated with clinical stage, pathological subtypes and muscular invasion(P<0.05).The 3-year survival rate of patients with negative expression of VEGF was 75%,which was markedly higher than that of patients with positive expression of VEGF (15.8%),and there was significant difference (P <0.05 ).[Conclusion]High expression of VEGF may be associated with biological characteristics such as the strong in-vasion,and can provide the evidence for the diagnosis and prognosis of SCNC.
