Correlation Between Serum Levels of TPOAb and TGAb in Patients with Graves Hyperthyroidism and the Incidence of Hypothyroidism after Subtotal Thyroidectomy
Abstract:[Objective]To measure serum levels of thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb ) and thyroglobulin antibody (TGAb) in patients with Graves hyperthyroidism before surgery ,and to explore their correlation with the incidence of hy-pothyroidism after surgery .[Methods]According to the results of TPOAb and TGAb ,198 patients were divided into both negative TPOAb and TGAb group( n=12) ,positive TPOAb or TGAb group( n = 32) and both positive TPOAb and TGAb( n=154) .According to the titer levels of TPOAb and TGAb ,154 patients with both positive TPOAb and TGAb were also divided into group A ( n=79) ,group B( n=65) and group C( n=10) .The correlation of the titer levels of TPOAb and TGAb with hypothyroidism before the operation was further discussed .[Results] There was significant difference in the incidence of hypothyroidism after the operation among three groups ( P<0 .005) .Among 154 patients of both positive TPOAb and TGAb group ,the titer levels of TPOAb and TGAb were related with the incidence of hyperthy-roidism( P<0 .005) .[Conclusion] The detection of serum levels of TPOAb and TGAb is of significance for predicting the incidence of hypothyroidism after surgery .
